Raffles Coffee and Toast at Funan Mall honors Singapore's rich coffee heritage by infusing traditional Nanyang-style brewing techniques with contemporary presentation and quality standards that celebrate the legacy of Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles and the cultural foundations of local coffee culture. This establishment pays homage to the Hainanese immigrants who developed Singapore's distinctive kopi preparation methods while serving in British colonial contexts, creating the traditional coffee culture that remains central to Singapore's social and culinary identity. The restaurant's approach combines historical authenticity with modern hygiene and service standards, offering traditional breakfast experiences that connect contemporary diners with Singapore's cultural heritage through carefully preserved recipes and preparation methods.
The menu centers around authentic kopi served with sweetened condensed milk alongside traditional kaya toast featuring coconut jam made from traditional recipes, soft-boiled eggs seasoned with white pepper and dark soy sauce, and other classic kopitiam offerings that have sustained generations of Singaporeans. The restaurant's commitment to traditional roasting techniques and high-quality regional beans ensures authentic flavors that reflect historical preparation methods while meeting contemporary expectations for consistency and quality. Pricing remains accessible around SGD 2-3 for complete breakfast sets, maintaining the democratic pricing structure that has always characterized Singapore's coffee shop culture and ensuring these traditional experiences remain available to all segments of society.
Raffles Coffee and Toast represents more than dining—it's cultural preservation through culinary experience, providing both locals and visitors opportunities to engage with Singapore's authentic food heritage in environments that respect traditional aesthetics while accommodating modern convenience and comfort expectations. The restaurant's success demonstrates continuing appreciation for Singapore's unique cultural contributions to global coffee culture, proving that traditional preparation methods and flavor profiles remain relevant and desirable in contemporary dining contexts. Whether seeking nostalgic connections to childhood memories, cultural education about Singapore's development, or simply excellent traditional coffee and food, Raffles Coffee and Toast delivers authentic experiences that bridge Singapore's past and present through the enduring appeal of perfectly prepared traditional breakfast offerings.
I had an unpleasant dining experience today. The cashier, who was not local and struggled to understand English, made several errors with my order. I clearly ordered two chicken rice sets, but only one was entered into the system. Instead, he included a $5 vegetable side dish that I did not order at all. What I had said was that I didn’t want sauce in the vegetable serving that originally came with the set — not that I wanted to add an extra vegetable dish.
This omission mistake caused my first order to fall below $20, meaning I couldn’t claim my capland loyalty points even though I paid $22.50 in two separate receipts, the other one was for the missing set. On top of that, the cashier placed the toast order slip directly underneath my peanut butter toast, which is highly unhygienic — I ended up eating off receipt paper, which should never happen.
Overall, the poor communication and service affected both the meal and the dining experience. I hope management will take steps to improve staff training, order accuracy, and hygiene standards.

Super disorganised. No proper system for queue and taking of order. Staffs were multi-tasking with order taking and preparing food/drinks and caused many backlog order. When queried, was told to wait! Eggs were not cooked at all, and when we bought it to the staff’s attention, customers were blamed for chasing the order, causing eggs to be under cooked! Poor staff attitude! Not recommended.

Steamed rice chicken - chicken is dry and tasteless. Rice is also not flavoured enough.
Collagen soup uses the chicken slices instead of chicken bone parts. Quite disappointed.
Only saving grace is the local drinks and Kaya toast which is at most average.

The food is ok .. but portion is really small. The price is above average but the portion is certainly below the typical size. (Do take a look at the photos). Other than that, the service staff was quick and polite. The place is clean.

Crispness of the toast bread runs almost flat. Egg is decent but not that fresh. Price is $5.50 for such toast set, which should be the cheapest in the mall.
The sofa seat seems to be too low, i suggest use the normal stool to sit.
Tissue is provided which is a plus point for F&B outlet.
Self return tray. PayWave ok.

This eatery at Funan’s basement serves local delights such as Chicken rice set (came with a good amount of chicken), & Chicken curry noodles! There are even sets that came with chicken rice balls.

The coffee shop serves chicken rice, which is interestingly offered the rice balls that look quite appealing. Will definitely try those next time.
The kaya toast is actually quite good. It’s creamy and has enough butter that blends well with the kaya.
The coconut coffee raffles signature has a nice coconut aroma and is less sweet, which is just right. The yinyang coffee is a bit sweet because they use condensed milk.
Overall, it’s a good place for a meal in the Funan basement. The prices are reasonable.

Overall dining experience is nice. Staffs are friendly and helpful. Amazed by the love shaped toast , the toast are yummy and we can’t resist to order twice.
Drinks are standard and expected taste, satisfy with it. Steamed chicken rice was good and nice too.
Lemon flavoured chicken chop rice is abit dry and tough.

At Raffles Coffee and Toast in Funan, the fare is simply delightful! The chicken rice is moist and flavorful, while the curry noodles is rich and satisfying. Their signature kaya toast offers a perfect balance of sweet and savory. A cozy spot for classic Singaporean dishes!

Similar concept to Yakun and toast box for breakfast. Ordered the signature traditional breakfast set at only $5.50.
A decent breakfast set with good local coffee, Kaya and butter toast, and two soft boiled eggs.
I love the humour of the staff and extra effort for my heart shape toast.
Note that this is Sing Swee Kee outlet so the Signature should be Hainanese chicken Rice. Would come back and try it sometime.
Shop is spacious, clean and pleasant for an enjoyable morning breakfast.

One of the very few places in SG that sell chicken rice balls. Coffee, tea and chicken rice are all on point 💯👍🏼
Conveniently located at Basement 2 of Funan, just a short walk from City Hall MRT via underground link.

Ordered curry chicken noodle $6.50 n Raffles Signature $3.80. Steamed chicken is v tender n slips off d bones. Noodles r overcooked. Order kueh teow better. Curry is d v lemak type. Raffles Signature is tasteless if less sweet is opted. They use UFC Velvet Coconut milk so it's flavourful only if one opts for normal.
Service recovery is very good 👍🏼 I m impressed. Will be back again.
Oh, cushion seats r too low for ladies to sit on. Tables are not wiped after customers left - dirty tables n many stains.

This place is a combination of toast box and yakun. They have hot food and the usual egg and toast set. Their teh is comparable to ya kun. Their curry Noodle is tastier than toast box. Their curry chicken, the chicken is from the original sing swee kee outlet. So is cooked to perfection. No smelly frozen smell and no tough meat. The curry gravy is super thick and spicy. Not suitable for those weak stomach. They only have chicken related hot food like rice and, noodle
I had both the curry Noodle and a breakfast set at 9am. The toast was crunchy and don't taste burnt. The Kaya spread looks scary because too green but was nice. It was spread evenly.
But the wait is quite terrible. I was the 3rd customer but I wanted for about a good 15mins. Teh and eggs was served first. They open up the egg similar to yakun but their egg yolk was cold in the inside. The egg was cook to perfection. The noodle came first so I eat egg with my noodle? Lol bread and egg must come together. By the time my toast came, the egg was totally cold. The serving time lose out to both yakun ans toast box. They have about 6 people at the back. Guess is a new store and still trying to understand the terrain and the people are new so I shall not comment much. Let's wait for a few more months for them to settle down.
I would definitely go back for their breakfast. This is a plus point for me over the other two usual breakfast joint that dominance in funan mall. Now we have 3 breakfast joints (egg and bread toast joint, they are other breakfast in funan such as macky and bollyfood). I work around funan and have queued for both yakun and toast box every weekday morning and is no joke.

I’ve been looking forward to trying hainanse chicken at Raffles Coffee n Toast and was so glad that I did! The food was so delicious and the service was really great, too!
Their toast is awesome! Really make my days! 👍

First time tried the food in this restaurant and ordered the You Tiao with Curry Chicken. Delicious meal and well recommended! The portion is just nice. The chicken meat and the potatoes are soft.
