Sushi Zushi at Funan Mall revolutionizes the omakase experience by combining traditional Japanese sushi craftsmanship with accessible pricing and casual dining. Located at #02-01, this innovative sushi bar offers freshly prepared nigiri sushi starting from just $3.50, making premium Japanese cuisine available to a broader audience while maintaining the high standards and personal attention typically associated with exclusive omakase restaurants.
The restaurant features an open-concept counter design accommodating 28 diners across two islands, where skilled chefs prepare sushi directly before guests using premium ingredients flown in four times weekly from Tokyo's renowned Toyosu Fish Market. The menu highlights include Otoro Fatty Tuna Sashimi ($12), Chutoro Medium Fatty Tuna Sashimi ($9), and an extensive selection of 19 handrolls served open-faced for customization. The distinctive shari rice, prepared with Tokyo red vinegar and Hokkaido Sansanmaru rice and hand-beaten twice daily, provides enhanced flavor and texture that complements the ultra-fresh seafood.
Operating daily 11:30am-4pm and 5:30pm-9:30pm with walk-in seating only, Sushi Zushi has quickly gained popularity among Singapore diners, evidenced by consistent queues and strong social media presence. The restaurant's success lies in democratizing the omakase experience while preserving authentic Japanese techniques and ingredient quality. By offering premium sushi at unprecedented prices and maintaining traditional preparation methods, Sushi Zushi has created a unique dining concept that satisfies both sushi enthusiasts seeking quality and newcomers exploring Japanese cuisine for the first time.
My wife and I went to Sushi Zushi for a late dinner, and while we were seated quickly, the overall experience left a lot to be desired.
Each seat has a QR code etched onto a small metal plate for ordering and payment. It’s a clever idea in theory, but the reflective metal made it surprisingly difficult to scan, which was a frustrating start.
We placed our orders separately using our individual QR codes. My wife received all her food within about five minutes, but I ended up waiting much longer. Strangely, the couple seated next to us, who arrived after I ordered, received their food, and finished eating while I was still waiting. When I asked the staff, they told me my order was still in the queue, but that clearly didn’t add up. Eventually, my food came out, but it was placed on my wife’s tray instead of mine. To top it off, my miso soup was missing and had to be requested separately. It was brought over eventually, but with no apology or acknowledgment.
The food itself was just okay—not bad, but definitely nothing special. Given the hype, I expected more. Overall, the service and operations need improvement. The experience felt disorganized, and I wouldn’t consider returning. It's certainly not worth waiting in line for.

This restaurant offers an accessible introduction to the omakase-style dining experience without the premium price tag, where the chef prepares and serves sushi directly to your board. For about SGD 150 for two people, it’s a decent, though not exceptional, meal.
The menu selection is adequate for a simple meal. While the sushi and fresh ingredient-based items are the focus, expect other items to be more basic (for example, my SGD 12 highball was served in a can instead of freshly pumped like what you'd get at Donki).
However, the dining experience was somewhat marred by a lack of attentiveness and care. Despite the likely popularity and space constraints (almost every review mentions long queues), there's room for improvement in service and respect for the food, especially the pricier menu items.
Here are some specific suggestions:
1) Explanation of dishes: When placing sushi and sashimi on the serving board, briefly describe what each piece is. This enhances the dining experience and informs the customer.
2) Care in presentation: Handle and place the sushi and handrolls with more care and intention, rather than rushing and dropping them onto the board. This shows respect for the food, the chef, and the diner.
3) Menu enhancement: Improve the descriptions in the digital menu to provide more information about the different types of fish and sushi, helping customers who are less familiar with Japanese cuisine understand the flavors and textures (e.g., the difference between engawa and hamachi, or otoro and chutoro).

Visited this place twice in a short while, it’s outstanding every time (except for the queue). Ordered SM Sake, SM Mekajiki, SM Hamachi, Spicy Aburi Tuna, HR Unagi, SU Tamago Mentai & SU Otoro. Food is great, fresh & quality, chefs behind the counter are professional and all the staff are friendly. You can see how they prep your order in-front of you, what a good concept of dining experience. Their sushi rice is not white in color, probably they have mix some other ingredients. It’s nice with all the sashimi.
This place has services charge 10% and GST 9%.

The food is fantastic. Sashimi is fresh, even the seaweed in their hand roll is crispy.
They only serve sushi, no fish or noodles or whatever.
Service is also quite fast, and the layout is such that it feels a bit like omakase (except it's not).
Depending on what you order, it can be pricey, though personally I found it reasonable (I'm just a big eater).
Overall, a great experience.

When first saw all the good reviews of this restaurant 🍣, I decided to bring my colleagues to try this restaurant if it is really that good.
Do remember to start scanning QR code to get Q number, you don’t have to queue physically. The system will notify you how many ppls are ahead of you, at least you can go shopping while waiting to be called. There are 21 ppls ahead of us, so we waited about 1 hour for our seats to be ready. The staff will call our Q number to enter.
Prices for those sushi are reasonable. We need to scan the QR codes again to see their menu. There are QR code (Menu) dedicated to each seat for ordering. My colleagues and I are craving for their sushi and our bills finally reached nearly S$100 per person. We actually ordered a lot and we felt worth it.
Last order will be at 2100 hrs. The online menu itself will indicate the countdown timing for the last order too.
I will try again next time to try out other sushi.

Queued for an hour during peak dinner time.
, worth the wait! Very satisfied. Service was good, sushi was fresh and delicious. The chefs were humorous and engaging. Definitely going back again.

Sushi Zushi is a great spot for a quick and casual sushi fix, but reservations are definitely a must — walk-ins are nearly impossible due to the long wait times.
The sushi was fresh and enjoyable, and ordering is done via a QR code at the table. Most sushi comes in pairs, and while there’s a sushi board in front of each person, we ended up ordering from just one device to avoid duplicates and try more varieties. Because of that, the sushi was always served to just one board — a minor quirk but something to keep in mind.
That said, the seating wasn’t ideal — we were placed right in front of the sink area, which made the experience a little less pleasant. Also, we noticed they don’t clean the sushi boards between rounds — so any sauce left from a previous piece ends up “staining” the next. A quick wipe between servings would really help keep things fresh and tidy.
Still, it was a good meal overall, and I’d definitely come back again — hopefully with a better seat and cleaner board next time!

Waited for 2 bloody hours on a Friday. You will need to scan a qr code when u reach. I reach at 630pm . They will assign u a queue number and notify u on WhatsApp when your number is near. Sat at 845pm 😪😪.
Really hope they should impose a time limit on their customers though I feel. Or at least inform if I won't be able to get a seat
Imagine
We were lucky to be seated at 845. Because there a group of 4 customers that left. 9pm is the cut off time lmao. Imagine if I waited for 2 hours without seat I be bloody annoyed.
But to be honest the wait is really really worth it. Thank god Their sushi is really good. Refer to the pics i took. Or I won't queue again to be honest. Esp their uni and engawa handrolls is the bomb. Their chefs is super friendly. Give me and fren extra tamago and sushi after hearing about our wait time lmao.

Great value for fresh and quality sushi 🍣 i think the highlight was the flounder which literally melts in your mouth. I also appreciate that they use real wasabi. The waiting time was slightly on the longer side, but fortunately it is within a mall and also the fact that they have a q-management system helps too.

one of the best sushi I've ever had in sgp !!!! the quality of the fish is super fresh. the waitress there was knowledgeable and attentive, making great recommendations from the menu 😀 we waited for a hour for our turn and it was worth it!!!

The “hot new thing” at Funan. Arrived early before the queues got too long. The sushi’s definitely a step above the mainstream chains like Sushi Tei, but the quality isn’t uniform. (E.g. the akami and kanpachi are excellent for the price, but the chutoro is an absolute joke and barely has enough fat) The space was crowded, you’re shoulder to shoulder with other patrons, and it felt more crowded than even casual standing sushi places like Sushi to Sumi.
We paid $50/pax and left a little hungry, so realistically, expect a spend of $60-70/pax if you want to be full, even if you avoid the priciest items on the menu. At that price, there’s competition from the lunch sets of cheaper omakase joints that have popped up recently, like Hikaru and Endo. And those places have superior ingredient quality and atmosphere, so I find it hard to recommend this place strongly. Might pop by for a small meal if there’s no queue, but not worth a special journey.

This was our second visit to Sushi Zushi, and it certainly did not disappoint. The first time we dined here, we had to queue for about 1.5 hours which was a clear testament to its popularity. This time, we arrived at 5pm and were lucky enough to make it for the first dinner seating at 5.30pm.
A special shoutout goes to Han, who made our dining experience truly memorable. She was incredibly attentive and thoughtful, advising us to enjoy the handrolls and gunkans first so that the seaweed wouldn’t get soggy, a small but impactful tip that significantly enhanced the meal. Her warm and cheerful demeanor throughout the evening added a lovely personal touch.
As always, the star of the show was the food. We could taste the unmistakable freshness of the sashimi, which we were told had been flown in just that morning. Every bite was a testament to the quality Sushi Zushi is known for.
We’ll definitely be back again, hopefully for the first seating once more!

Been here for a couple of times now and this has become one of my favorite sushi places. Although the restaurant is quite small, I appreciate the efficient queuing system, which would allow you to chill elsewhere while waiting to be notified via WA. Lovely hospitality by the staff and the dining experience is pleasant. Sashimi is fresh and food is generally delicious. I love the hand rolls and chawanmushi (it came with a piece of mochi!). Good place for good food for a quick meal, but perhaps not too great to catch up with friends as they only have counter seats and there is almost always a queue waiting to be seated.

Had a very enjoyable dining experience at Sushi Zushi~ Chefs are very skilled and friendly! Particularly enjoyed the experience of watching the chefs work their magic. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients & sushi rice is well-marinated. Queued for an hour but we got to walk around the mall while waiting so it wasn’t too bad! Will be back to try the other sushi options!
