31 plays, one hour, you shout the order

The format has not changed. The company puts 31 short plays on a washing line of numbers. The audience yells the next number from their seats. A countdown clock eats the sketches nobody picks. How Drama says shouting will be required. Helmi Yusof in The Business Times called the series a Singapore version of Saturday Night Live, Broadway pastiche mixed with local in-jokes. Bakchormeeboy wrote that the room runs on shared relief more than on any single gag.

Writers work the 2026 script up to opening night, so later shows pick up headlines the first weekend missed. Official copy and local listings name this year's pile: World Cup moments, the Strait of Hormuz, the BTS comeback, the Wanton Mee head-patting row, the attack on an elderly man at Roxy Square, and the fertility-rate push. You will not see all 31. You will see the ones the room shouts loudest.

Each performance lasts 60 minutes with no interval. The rating is Advisory 16. Everyone aged three and above needs a ticket. Children come with an adult. Latecomers wait for a suitable gap. Language is English. There are no seat tiers. S$35 is S$35 in the stalls and in the circle. Free seating, first come, first served, on past How Drama nights at this theatre. Confirm that on your BookMyShow checkout before you assume a reserved chair.

Who is in the room

How Drama was founded in 2007. Co-artistic directors Ross Nasir and Melissa Sim keep the ticket price low on purpose. The company's line is blunt: if you can watch a movie and buy popcorn, you can watch Fat Kids. Mato's listing for the 23 October night names the 2026 performers as Ross Nasir, Jo Tan, Teoh Jun Vinh, Fahim Murshed and Yeo Zhiyi. DANAMIC's September preview put Ross Nasir and Jo Tan at the front of that pack. Jo Tan trained at École Philippe Gaulier. In a show that treats the audience as a sixth player, that clown-school habit matters more than a star billing.

The same format has played Paris, Washington DC and Oslo. It was nominated Best in Theatre at the Sydney Fringe Festival in 2019 and at the Melbourne Fringe Festival in 2020. Connected to India sat down with the company in early October 2026. Melissa Sim said the point is to talk about things that are trending, then force the room to look at them from a different angle. The title is a joke. The sketches are not about kidnapping children.

Level 4, City Hall, last train home

Wild Rice's address is 107 North Bridge Road, #04-08, Funan, Singapore 179105. The mall's other tower uses 109. Use 107 for the theatre. City Hall MRT, NS25 and EW13, connects underground into Funan Basement 2. Lifts and the spiral up to Level 4. Mall hours are 10am to 10pm. A 7.30pm Friday show still leaves time to eat on B1 or L2 before curtain. A 3pm Sunday matinee dumps you back into the atrium with the rest of the afternoon.

The Ngee Ann Kongsi Theatre holds 358 seats on a thrust stage, the only one of its kind in Singapore. You sit close. That is why the shouting works. It is also why latecomers cannot wander in mid-sketch. The box office number on partner pages is 6292 2695. For anything other than a last-minute ticket, use the Wild Rice event page.

Sunday 25 October 2026 is the end of the 2026 edition. If both remaining houses are gone, the next How Drama date at Funan is not on the Wild Rice what's-on board yet. Do not wait for a December encore that nobody has announced.
