I came twice and the aunty was really nice. Maybe theres a change of staff from previous said review. Its suitable for vegetarian and does not contain turtle shell in case anyone wondering. I ate one and bought home 2 for family.

A little pricey but otherwise all is good. I enjoyed the chilled 龟苓膏 and the aunty waitress was very friendly.

Chanced upon Koong Woh Tong (KTK), a traditional herbal tea cum dessert shop @ Funan Mall. The gold-colored urn steamer and tea dispensers at its shop entrance were what caught my eye. Given that such a shop is becoming rare here, I gotta check it out. Later learnt that KTK brand is a chain store established in KL, Malaysia with outlets in M'sia and S'pore. At first glance, its Chinese characters remind me of Kung Wo Tong shop in Hong Kong which my family often patronizes when we visit the city, and (umm) get me wondering if both are related... That said, based on the menu, KTK serves herbal jelly and drinks with health benefits, from detox to general health maintenance. My visit was to try the black, jiggly Herbal Guilinggao (龜苓膏 in Traditional Chinese / 龟苓膏 in Simplified Chinese) - literal translated as Herbal Turtle Jelly (HTJ) - a nourishing delicacy consumed as a dessert. As it is, HTJ isn't sweet but has a slightly bitter taste. Unless you can tolerate its bitter aftertaste, syrup (or honey) can be added to make HTJ more palatable. Chilled HTJ was much needed for me on hot humid day. Ordered a small serving at SGD9 and was served in a jiffy. Preferring mine less sweet, I just drizzled a weeny bit. Overall, I've enjoyed my time here😃 • decently authentic jelly with smooth texture & refreshing taste • friendly & prompt service • pleasant & calming ambience P.S. First-timers may wish to read up on HTJ benefits, properties and precautions.

I have to kind of agree with the other comments that service really isn’t the best, but I think this is partially our fault. Apparently the shop closes at 9pm. We went at 8:55 asking if we could have gui ling gao cos we saw there were still patrons. The lady grumbled something about it being 9pm but still served us. The little pot didn’t have much honey inside so we asked for more and was given a small tub. Well, made do with it. Haha. After us, 2 more families arrived and sat down. The lady still served them with an unhappy face. She could have turned us all away since it was 9pm but she didn’t. It’s $10 and the portion is quite huge.

Poor Service, Strange Experience! If you consume any herbal tea at the store, the staff will deliberately ask you to dispose the cup (that they sell) in a public trash bin outside, so they don’t have to take out the trash.
