Hidden Peranakan Comfort Food in Funan
Found this laid-back spot on Funan’s 4th floor—no frills, just solid Peranakan fusion. The chicken buah keluak is a must: tender chicken in a rich, earthy gravy with those funky black nuts (don’t skip scraping the paste inside—it’s weirdly addictive). The ngor hiang? Crispy, meaty, and gone too fast.
Save room for the durian crème brûlée. It’s creamy, lightly fragrant, and the burnt sugar top cracks perfectly. The lychee sorbet is a sweet, icy reset after all the spices.
Staff are chill and helpful—no fuss, just quick smiles. The vibe’s casual, with mall views that make people-watching part of the fun. Prices won’t hurt your wallet.
Go for: A satisfying meal that feels like a hug from your Nyonya grandma—if she embraced durian desserts and lychee sorbet. Skip if you hate flavor.
Location: 4th floor, Funan. Perfect for messy, happy eating.

Set aside for the price. Loved how the flavours were rich but not overly salty, everything was nicely balanced. The assam fish and braised pork were our favourites. Quiet and comfy on a weekday evening too. Will definitely come back again.

The lunch set was delicious. It’s good that my spouse made an inquiry about some products that were very new to us, for example about one nut.
Kids were delighted to get blue rice.
Dessert was not really sweet however very interesting as a cultural experience.
The restaurant serves wine which is not a very common thing in mid price Chinese restaurants in Singapore as far as I know.

Booked via Chope for 230pm slot. We arranged on time and host brought us to our table. I asked if we can have sofa seat but was rejected as someone else was supposed to have book the sofa seat. However, there was no one seated there even when we finished our meal, we only saw the crew packing things using the tables.
Can also use Chope voucher if you make reservations via Chope.
Food was good though. The beef rendang was very good, is a must order. The rest of the dishes such as otak, chap chye, chicken buah keluak were also very nice. Free flow water and water refill was prompt though.
The coconut pudding with hitam is so-so only though.

Great spot for modern Peranakan cuisine! Godmama serves up delicious, well-balanced dishes with a nice mix of tradition and a modern twist. The flavors are authentic yet refined, and the presentation is lovely. I especially enjoyed the rich, flavorful rendang and the comforting chap chye. Cozy ambiance and friendly service make it a great place to enjoy classic Peranakan food in the heart of the city.

Toned down version of authentic Peranakan food. Ayam Buah Keluak tastes great but some inner parts of the chicken is lil’ tough. Babi Assam meat is soft and tender but assam taste is too weak. Ikan Gerang Assam tastes is my favourite as the fish is seared perfectly before putting into the pineapple assam sauce. Chap chye tastes amazing but quite pricey. Dessert is on the ‘less sweet+healthier’ side with nice presentation.
Overall I feel it’s a good place for first timers and younger working adults. I personally prefer more authentic with bolder flavour.

Had a lovely meal here. The outlet has both indoor and outdoor seating, making it a nice spot to chill and catch up over a hearty Peranakan meal.
The blue pea rice was visually appealing and also perfectly cooked. We tried the beef rendang, ayam buah keluak, and chap chye — all were flavorful and comforting, with the acar adding a refreshing contrast.
Portion-wise, you can go for the set meal (individual portion) or the à la carte dishes for sharing. My friend and I are both small eaters, so we opted for the set meals and shared our mains — it was just nice for us! Would definitely return to try more dishes!

Overpriced. Not value for money. Dishes not hot and portion quite small. Worst of all dishes are only slightly warm not fresh and served hot as expected. Ordered Chap chye, beef rendang, Ngoh Hiang and 1 drink. Total $75.

Excellent Peranakan food and interesting but good dessert which is not too sweet. We ordered set for 2 plus Assam fish and kueh pie ti for 4 pax and have leftovers. Highly recommended if you are craving for Peranakan food. Excellent service. She served us warm water before we even asked to 4 ahjunmas. Only feedback is they should offer hot lemon grass and not just coolers.

Delicious food with generous portions and great service!
The popiah and nasi ulam are my absolute favourites—packed with flavour and really satisfying. Service is friendly and efficient. I’d recommend making a reservation during meal times, as it can get quite busy. Highly recommend!
