Had a cosy spot in this place to do my work and also enjoying a plate of their signature murtabak. Different twist to their murtabak as they incorporate the indonesian touch of sambal instead of the usual curry!

Ambiance: Smile Martabak - Funan offers a casual and relaxed dining experience in the heart of Funan Mall. The vibrant atmosphere and aromas of Indonesian spices create a welcoming and inviting ambiance.
Service: Donkey and I were looking for a quick and satisfying Indonesian meal, and Smile Martabak - Funan seemed like the perfect spot. While the service was friendly.
Food: We opted for the Ayam Penyet, a fiery dish that set our taste buds ablaze. The chicken, perfectly cooked to a crispy exterior and juicy interior, was a delight. The green chili sambal, with its satisfying kick, added a layer of heat that was perfectly balanced by the fluffy, flavorful rice. The sweet soy sauce provided a touch of sweetness, creating a harmonious blend of flavors. I particularly loved the Ayam Penyet because the rice was so flavorful and cooked hot.
Next, we shared the Martabak Beef, a unique and delicious twist on the classic martabak. This savory pancake, filled with tender beef, was a symphony of flavors. The onion sambal, pickled vegetables, and martabak sauce created a harmonious blend of sweet, sour, and spicy notes, making each bite a delightful experience. While a bit messy to eat, the Martabak Beef was undoubtedly worth the effort.
We also sampled the ice avocado, a refreshing dessert that, while enjoyable, lacked a bit of sweetness for my taste. I personally feel that it might go well with red bean to make it more tasty 😋
We were aiming to try the Chicken Martabak, but unfortunately, it was sold out. This was a slight disappointment, as many reviewers rave about it. However, the Original Choco Cheese martabak, while a bit much after our two main courses, was still a delicious treat.
What We Loved:
● Authentic Indonesian Flavors: The dishes we tried offered a genuine taste of Indonesian cuisine, with vibrant spices and flavorful ingredients.
● Perfectly Cooked Chicken: The Ayam Penyet featured perfectly cooked chicken, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside.
● Delicious Martabak Beef: The Martabak Beef was a unique and flavorful creation, with a delightful combination of textures and flavors.
What Could Be Improved:
● Ice Avocado Sweetness: The ice avocado could benefit from a touch more sweetness.
Overall: Donkey and I enjoyed the food at Smile Martabak - Funan, but the service and the ice avocado's sweetness could be improved. The restaurant's vibrant atmosphere and authentic Indonesian flavors make it a promising spot, but we hope to see improvements in the future.

Savoury martabak is great. One of the best in SG! Place is a bit small.
